Why we made this
Because feeling alone is worse than the feeling itself
Most mental-health pages are facts and lists. They're useful — but when you're low, what you often need first is to feel seen, not informed.
It's Not Just You exists to meet that moment. Whatever you're carrying, we want you to know it's shared by far more people than will ever admit it — and that there are things that genuinely help.
- Understanding before advice — we meet your words with care.
- Honest, warm, human writing — not clinical coldness.
- Rooted in real, trusted UK support when you need it.
How we source this
Every figure here is real, and shown with its source
Every prevalence figure on this site is traceable to a real, named public health body — NHS, WHO, Mind, the Mental Health Foundation, Campaign to End Loneliness, and others — or a real, peer-reviewed study. The source is named on screen next to every figure, and linked.
No number is invented or rounded to sound cleaner than the source supports. Where a single clean figure doesn't exist, we say so honestly — a range, an estimate, a note that research on the topic is still small-scale — rather than picking one to sound authoritative. If we couldn't find a real figure for something, it doesn't get a page here.
- The reassurance on each page is written in our own voice — never presented as a real quote or testimonial.
- Population-level figures are shown for context and comfort — not a diagnosis, and not advice about you personally.
- Nothing you type is saved, sent anywhere, or tracked — this stays between you and the page.
- We use anonymous, cookieless analytics to see which parts of the site are actually helping — aggregate counts only, never tied to you, and never what you typed.
- Joining the newsletter is the one thing that isn't anonymous — it needs the email address you give us, and any topics you tell us you're going through. Never shared or sold, one click to leave any time.
