The reality
Insomnia is trouble getting to sleep, staying asleep, or waking unrefreshed. It's common and usually connected to stress, worry, or routine.
A word of kindness
Lying awake while the world sleeps feels desperately lonely. Your brain isn't refusing to cooperate on purpose — it's wired tight. That can be unwound.
Something you could try right now
If sleep won't come, get up rather than lying there fighting it. Do something boring and low-light for twenty minutes, then try again. Pressure to sleep is the enemy of sleep.
